Why National Fitness Day is good for your sex life

Next Wednesday 7 September is National Fitness Day. This isn’t going to be huge news to you, but participating in fitness activities has heaps of mental and physical benefits. One of these myriad benefits is a better sex life. Today we take a look at why this is and bring you some of the best National Fitness Day free activities in the areas our service is available.

These days ‘fitspo’ and fitness culture seems to be everywhere. With super-buff types like Kayla Itsines and the Body Coach embodying a very shiny before and after version of an active lifestyle, some people can feel left out of that movement. That’s why days like National Fitness Day are great. There are heaps of routes to fitness, whether you’re into walking, like being out on the water or even doing some vigorous gardening. You don’t have to look a certain way or have any level of ability to start. Just starting is likely to have immediate benefits.

So, how does exercise and movement affect your sex life? First of all, you’ll have increased cardiovascular capacity - more energy, less breathlessness. Next, you may notice improved strength and flexibility helps you with some of the trickier but satisfying positions. Exercise can also play a role in reducing sexual dysfunction. Doctors at the New England Research Institute found that regular, vigorous exercise can be effective at lowering impotence risk. The researchers studied more than 600 middle-aged men who hadn't reported any problems with impotence. After eight years, the men who exercised regularly were less likely to have problems. Studies have also shown that women who exercise regularly become aroused more quickly and are able to orgasm faster and more intensely. Pass. Us. The. Dumbells.
