This week we were fortunate to be invited to speak on London youth radio, Reprezent about SH:24 and why it's important to get tested.

Reprezent is something of a phenomenon; it's the UK's only radio station whose presenters are all under the age of 25 and trains up to 2000 young people in media and employment skills a year. It's supported the development of musicians and djs including BBC Radio 1Xtra's Jamz Supernova who caught the BBC's attention while DJ-ing on Reprezent. It brings a diverse range of musical genres to its cross-London audience.

Our programme director, Gillian and programme manager Glyn met with Satema (@satemama) to talk about why it is important for young people to get tested. Satema was interested in the reasons that STI rates are so high in Lambeth and Southwark. Gillian explained that greater population density coupled with the boroughs' thriving nightlife can mean young people are more at risk.

We also had the chance to chat with Satema about SH:24 after the interview – she told us:

"As a young person, I have always known the importance of testing. I do try and get tested regularly but this can be difficult with awkward clinic opening times and long waiting times, getting a full check-up can be extremely difficult. Knowing that the infection rate in London is so high its great that from now on I can use a service like SH:24 which is quick and convenient.

Hearing things like this is great for our team because it proves the service can make people's lives easier. Having the support of Reprezent will help us to spread the word about the service to a bigger community of young people across London.

This year Reprezent faced closure due to funding cuts. A crowdfunding campaign saved the station but you can still contribute to help ensure the station's continued survival. Having seen the team in action, it's an amazing resource for young people and vitally important in providing young people a voice in the UK music scene as well as valuable skills for employment.
